Simon started his professional life at Leeds Federated Housing Association managing on site projects including the Marlborough and Blandford HAA; gaining valuable experience in team working and quick decision making. A senior associate position at the John Brunton Partnership followed, working in both their Bradford and Bristol offices, on large scale residential and commercial projects throughout the North and South West.
More about simon

Moving back to Leeds in 1992 and joining Carey Jones Architects, where he became a director, Simon was responsible for the design of many of the practices best known schemes including: Princes Exchange; Tetley visitor centre at Brewery Wharf; 15/16 Park Row in Leeds; Alliance & Leicester HQ building; and Olympic Spirit in Munich. During this time Simon immersed himself in the art of Masterplanning; producing schemes including Clarence Dock in Leeds, Merchants Gate and Snowhill both in Wakefield, Wellington Place Leeds for Hermes, and Cammel Lairds site in Merseyside. This additional skill adds to Simon’s long term passion for place making and seeing good design as a key driver in the regeneration of our cities.

In 2009, having worked in collaboration on projects at CJA for 15 years, Simon and Jonathan established their own studio, think architecture, with a view to continuing a philosophy of design excellence; coupled with delivery expertise and a hands on approach to projects.

In addition to his practice commitments Simon also donates his time as a visiting Studio Tutor to the University of Leeds architectural engineering degree course, and is Chair of the Leeds Property Forum’s QPS group; whose aim is to promote and encourage high quality public realm in Leeds. The group is an excellent example of public and private sectors working together for the common good.

Away from the pen, Simon is happiest walking our glorious countryside or immersed in the latest building/creative project at home.
